Pininfarina remained one of Ferrari's most valued subcontractors. Battista died in 1966. His son Sergio retires in 2001. After the accidental death of Sergio's eldest son, the second son manages the company.
Sergio Pininfarina dies in 2012. The Ferrari Sergio concept car pays tribute to him in the following year at the Geneva Motor Show. It was built on a Ferrari 458 chassis with a body designed and built by Carrozzeria Pininfarina in the taste of Sergio, with a new search in the purity of lines.
In 2014 Ferrari launches the production of six units of the Sergio after making the required modifications for road homologation. As usual for limited series, the brand chooses its customers. At the same time Ferrari abandons the atmospheric engine in favor of the turbo engine. The Sergio thus appears as the ultimate culmination of Ferrari's atmospheric V8 engine.
The first of the six commercial Sergios is unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2015. With less than 200 km from new, it is estimated € 2.5M for sale by RM Sotheby's in Monaco on May 12, lot 145.
